Hey Queens! Meet Kristian Ayana | Shvdes of beauty

What’s the name of your business or organization? The name of my business is Shvdes of beauty.

Why did you start your business or organization? Shvdes of Beauty was created in July of 2019 The business was created as a call for action to bring awareness to colorism and encourage self love and self care.

How are you helping people with your business or organization? I encourage individuals to be confident with their skin by teaching values of self love, self -care,& by addressing colorism.

What is the significance of your business or organization? Shvdes of Beauty is significant because it is a unique business that defies the standards and cultural tones of westernized America.

What motivates you to continue in your business or organization? As a woman who is deeply pigmented, I have faced much controversy surrounded by colorism in my community. Due to my personal experiences I have learned how to conquer the self destruction that discrimination against darker toned individuals bring. I am highly passionate about motivating and inspiring individuals who have or will experience similar battles. My goal is to be a voice for the silent, and to continue to help these individuals through my platform shvdes of beauty.

Do you have any upcoming events to share? The shvdesofbeauty Chapter 1 project has just been completed. This project addresses social issues such as colorism by bringing awareness to these issues through the vessel of art.
