Hey Queens! Meet Deshannon Celestine | Shades of Power and Love
What’s the name of your business or organization? Shades of Power and Love
Why did you start your business or organization? For years I craved a sisterhood who would accept me for me, despite my lack of materialistic items and the scars of my past. For so many years outsiders as well as family turned their face from me and blocked the entrance to their groups because I was what they described as “regular”! Not understanding the meaning of regular, I became frustrated with the stereotypical women groups who refuse to combine their powers to change the world. So many of them declined my invitation to make a difference because of my style of fashion. Many of them looked down on me because I didn’t own a pair of Red bottoms or because I worked a 9-5 and actually redefined the term “Business Woman”! I refocused my energy on building women up and providing them with the one thing I craved for so many years....a judgment free zone that’s built on love! God chose somebody “Regular” to change the game and serve women something irregular...An invitation to be you.
How are you helping people with your business or organization? On June 13, 2014, I decided to step out on faith and support the vision of my 15 year old daughter. My daughter mentioned her craving to serve the homeless. Not focusing on my current bank statement, we took a leap of faith and decided to launch “Amariah’s Love Cakes” which caters to the homeless. As a single mother I picked up a part time job in order to fund this charity event. The first time we feed 60 women at “Atlanta’s Day Shelter” and 100’s each month thereafter. After watching God open so many doors and providing for Amariah’s love Cakes, I answered the call for shades of Power and love which promotes women empowerment daily with inspirational quotes, empowerment events providing women with a judgment free zone to share their truth and obtain the encouragement needed to live this thing called life. Shades of Power and Love is also resource for sisters to network free of charge and build each other.
Also my blogging site offers daily encouragement and a safe place for women to exhibit their scars to help encourage others.
What is the significance of your business or organization? It’s a safe place for all women. A judgment free platform for ladies of all shades of colors and different walks of life to unite and build a multicultural sisterhood that promotes women empowerment through encouragement.
What motivates you to continue in your business or organization? The lives I’ve been blessed to touch. The Opportunity to plant a seed of faith in everyone I encounter. Witnessing the harvest from seeds God has chosen me to plant. The relationships that are made combined with the smiles I see. The thought of a large bank account wasn’t the fuel for creating this group..expressing love to change this world is what fills me up.
